Electrical Switches

Electrical switches are part of our product range here at Herga and they account for most of the switches we offer. We also offer Pneumatic Switches which you can find out more about here.

Electrical switches are suitable for various environments and therefore have different characteristics and use different technologies and working principles.

What is an Electrical Switch?

An electrical switch can be any type of switch which uses electricity to function. They are very common and can be used for a wide range of applications in many different industries.

We have an extensive range of electrical switches.

Types of Electrical Switches

The types of electrical switches we can offer include;

Electrical Foot Switches – footswitches are a popular choice for many different devices and machinery, they are hands free so give the user full use of both hands during operation.

Our range of electrical footswitches includes; foot potentiometers, joystick footswitches, heavy duty footswitches, industrial footswitches, puck switches. Many of our electrical footswitches are available with multipedal options. We also have our modular base system for applications with up to 12 switching functions required.

Electrical Hand Control Switches – hand controls are a very popular product, they are often used within the medical industry for patient manoeuvring and furniture adjusting.

Our range of electrical hand control switches includes; membrane hand controls, hand controls with large buttons for ease of use and robust hand controls. Our hand control range also includes infrared switching options.

Pressure and Vacuum switches – these are used for monitoring and control applications. Our range includes air pressure switches, vacuum switches and diaphragm switches.

Micro Switches – micro switches, as their names suggest, are very small switches, they offer excellent performance and high reliability. See the full range of microswitches we can offer on our website or contact us for more information.

Bluetooth Switches - our Bluetooth footswitches work on a closed network within a 10m range. They are suitable for medical environments as well as OEM applications.

Infrared Switches - infrared is another technology we use for some of our electrical switches. We have handheld infrared switches as well as motion detection switches.

Electrical switches can work as either latching or momentary switches.

Latching Electrical Switches – a latching switch is compressed once and then remains “on” until they are compressed again.

Momentary Electrical Switches – a momentary switch requires continuous compression to remain “on”, when the switch is not compressed it will not operate. This type of electrical footswitch is often used for hospital beds.

Uses for Electrical Switches

Some uses for electrical switches include;

  • Heavy duty machinery
  • Push to talk
  • Laser machines
  • Metal cutting machines
  • Optical instruments
  • Medical equipment
  • Photographic operations on X-ray machines
  • Electrical door controls
  • Medical bed and chair controls
  • Patient hoists
  • Toilet flushes
  • White goods
  • Tattoo machines
  • Beauty equipment
